Summer is HERE

After a 3 week June Gloom Flat spell, we FINALLY got a decent south swell. Had a good session out here all morning, then grabbed a few pics post surf after the tide came in a little too much. Water is warming up, sun is out, south swells in the water, it is feeling like summertime. On a weather related note, it hailed yesterday, in San Diego, in June.

Carlsbad Campground Session

Another injury?!? has kept me drydocked for a few days, but it hasn't kept me from heading down to the beach to shoot some high tide evening bowls the past few nights. Also had some time to experiment with different editing techniques, in this case trying to mimic cross-processed film. It is a different look, not supposed to be very realistic looking, but I like the way these came out.

This last one is not cross-processed, just a slow shutter speed pan of a wave washing back to the ocean, the golden color comes from the reflection of sunlight.

Nice evening at the beach tonight, combined with a nice sunset, nice swell, and nice conditions. There haven't been many big swells this winter, but there have been a number of smaller, super clean days with fun size surf and perfect conditions.

This one is actually from Beacon's in Encinitas. The surf wasn't anything spectacular, but the sky was amazing and resembled a big whitewater coming overhead.

Sun, Birds, Wave, Gold

In that order...

Noticing any recurring themes yet in the photos that I've posted on here?
It's no secret, I like the sun, the birds, the waves, and the gold.
Maybe soon I will post some photos of mountains or trees, once I get myself away from the coast.

Carlsbad Lefts

A few random selections from a recent aqueous outing.
Fall is a great time to be a surfer in California.
