Indo Post #1

Quite a lot of photos to go through from this trip, so here are a few to get started.

View from the airplane coming in to Denpasar, Bali, looking at the volcanoes towards the east.

Downtown Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and beyond looking deceptively peaceful from above. After a short time in Kuta crazytown it was time to get out to Sumbawa for some surf.

Reefs along the east side of Bali in front of Sanur.

On the Sumbawa freeway towards Lakey Peak, dodging traffic.

Groms.

A very welcome site after all of the travelling.

This fisherman was so stoked on this right that he was throwing soul arches while standing in the channel.

Summer is HERE

After a 3 week June Gloom Flat spell, we FINALLY got a decent south swell. Had a good session out here all morning, then grabbed a few pics post surf after the tide came in a little too much. Water is warming up, sun is out, south swells in the water, it is feeling like summertime. On a weather related note, it hailed yesterday, in San Diego, in June.

Nice evening at the beach tonight, combined with a nice sunset, nice swell, and nice conditions. There haven't been many big swells this winter, but there have been a number of smaller, super clean days with fun size surf and perfect conditions.

This one is actually from Beacon's in Encinitas. The surf wasn't anything spectacular, but the sky was amazing and resembled a big whitewater coming overhead.

Yes Brett you are worthy of the blog!
I won't go into detail, but we basically lived like kings down in mainland mex for a week for Brett's bachelor party. Waves, boats, snorkling, fishing, whales, bocce ball, infinity pools, pool tables, tequila and 42,000 pacificos all went down this week.

Here are some shots that I took from a swim out at Ponto the other evening. The conditions were perfect this day, although 9 out of 10 waves were closeouts, every once in a while a perfect one came spinning through with no takers. Where was everyone??? Some of these I was experimenting with slower shutter speeds that create more of a look of a painting rather than a photograph. Midway through my swim a pod of dolphins came through, I got one of them mid-jump through the back of a set wave. I was hoping that he wouldn't land on my head.

Bros

Matt and Jake came down for a few days to sample the waves, women and tacos of San Diego. Unfortunately, the North Pacific storm track decided to drop down and visit as well. Not to be the type to sit around indoors, we got out into some of the most windy, stormy conditions I have ever witnessed, let alone paddled out in. We had a few good survival surfing sessions, then got a few fun waves once the storm passed (pictured).

Walking up the Beacons Trail

Bird, knocking the top off.

And again wrapping the roundhouse.

Morning Waves

Another booty full morning in Carlsbad, sunny, light offshore conditions, and a few fun waves rolling through. These were taken after a quicky morning session, I was in a hurry to get out there and catch a few, then came back in a wandered the cliffs for a while. Needless to say, I was a little late to work this morning.
