Here are some shots that I took from a swim out at Ponto the other evening. The conditions were perfect this day, although 9 out of 10 waves were closeouts, every once in a while a perfect one came spinning through with no takers. Where was everyone??? Some of these I was experimenting with slower shutter speeds that create more of a look of a painting rather than a photograph. Midway through my swim a pod of dolphins came through, I got one of them mid-jump through the back of a set wave. I was hoping that he wouldn't land on my head.

Morning Waves

Another booty full morning in Carlsbad, sunny, light offshore conditions, and a few fun waves rolling through. These were taken after a quicky morning session, I was in a hurry to get out there and catch a few, then came back in a wandered the cliffs for a while. Needless to say, I was a little late to work this morning.

Sun, Birds, Wave, Gold

In that order...

Noticing any recurring themes yet in the photos that I've posted on here?
It's no secret, I like the sun, the birds, the waves, and the gold.
Maybe soon I will post some photos of mountains or trees, once I get myself away from the coast.

I drive by this lagoon opening every day, when there is a low enough tide and the right conditions, these little 6-inch peelers come reeling down the sides of the sand banks. Kind of makes you want to take a shrinking pill and pull into some stand up tubes. Until Joe Stalder invents those, I will have to be content to watch them go by unridden.

Leo Carillo

Rather than sit in traffic on the freeway in the San Fernando Valley on my way back down south, I usually opt for the Hwy 1 down the coast through Malibu. I was heading down this day in September looking for some waves and saw a few groms out at Leo Carillo having a blast on some small ones. I snapped a few of these before joining them on my magic fish.
