Fins

A new fish from Nori-san and some new custom fins from Gun-san. Gun-san uses prints that he finds on random bandanas to glass into some uniquely designed fins. This board is a super fun fish modeled after my J7 fish (which was modeled after Sterdog's blue angel Arrow). Bird is over here visiting and he is blowing minds all over the beaches of Fukude on this board.

I was browsing through some old pics and noticed by accident that these two had a similar look, along with similar names. Toyohama, the local harbor surf break down the road, land of tetrapod jetties and the occasional wave, and Toyama, the town on the Sea of Japan side, land of rice fields and not many waves.

I was going to write something funny but I didn't want to take away from the awesomeness of this photo. This is the photo on the front of a package for an ice shaving machine to make some "kakigouri" - shave ice.

Wind Power

Some long exposure photos from a full moon night mission down to the Tenryu River. These wind turbines are gigantic and very impressive up close. They also for a good wind speed/direction indicator for daytime surfs.

BBQ

Some more photos from the river bbq. The whole Beach Town crew (including AL!) headed up into the mountains for an all day BBQ, some bridge jumping, plenty of beer drinking, and some midday naps.



All day drinking near the river takes its toll, many a soldier were wounded.
Casualties abound.

Yoshida-san kept his goggles on during his nap, just in case...


Traditional Japanese meat coil. Just kidding, I think this was picked up at the Brazilian meat shop.



BBQ'd rice balls and pumpkin, no tongs here, just chopsticks.


Al gets his hot plate noodles on, cooked up by chef Yasumasa-san.

Everyone (mostly) woke up for the group photo.
